ByteDance is Spainbringing Lu You, head of Douyin’s social business, into the company’s large language model (LLM) team. The move comes as ByteDance aims to accelerate the development of its own large model system by appointing experienced technical and management executives from other established units. According to local media outlet Tech Planet, Lu will be reporting to Zhu Wenjia, who oversees the firm’s efforts in developing large language models. However, this information has not been officially confirmed by ByteDance. The outlet also mentioned that, as per a source close to the Beijing-based company, ByteDance is currently diversifying its services based on AI models, which includes the development of a chatbot tool and a text-to-image assistant.
